Status effects (or battle effects) are effects that effect a player's (or players') characteristics and abilities. There are various effects including buffs (positive effects), debuffs (negative effects), and Talent effects. Many Genjutsu and Kinjutsu deal these effects, particularly debuffs. There are Talent skills that inflict debuffs, buffs the player, and do other various effect. There are a few Ninjutsu for each element and Taijutsu that inflict debuffs without them being Kinjutsu.

Dodging attacks and getting critical hits normally are not considered status effects since they are quick and always applies to everyone. The only exceptions are those that provide a bonus for them for a number of turns, which is why Combustion, Reactive Force, and Purify are considered status effect and not Dodge or Critical Hit.

When a target that was affected with a status effect is affected by another effect of the same name, the effect does not stack, rather, the effect overrides. For example, if a target was stunned for 3 turns and if the target was then hit by an attack that inflicts Stun for 2 turns, the target will be no longer be stunned for 3 turns but will be stunned for 2 turns.

The weakened target's damage for all attacks decreases by a percentage amount for a number of turns.

This is caused by Demon Song of Demon Sound, which is a passive skill that Thunder players have a high chance to cause such debuff. Wind users are more likely to cause Weaken because of their speed. This requires the use of offensive Wind/Thunder ninjutsus (Same for some Kinjutsus.) This debuff is also cause by the Genjutsu, Kinjutsu: Bewitching Eyes Illusion. As well as it's upgrade, Kinjutsu: Dark Demonic Illusion Bewitching Eyes and Mirror of Grace .

This debuff is similar to Fear.
